Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • baking dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Cooking Oil
  • 3 lb Fresh Hamburger Meat
  • 1 Large White Onion Chopped
  • 1 Bell Pepper Chopped
  • 14 Grams Regular Crackers
  • 1 Can 15 ounces Tomato Sauce
  • ½ Can More Tomato Sauce
  • 1 ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 2 Large Eggs

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a loaf pan with cooking spray or oil.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the hamburger meat, chopped onion, 15 ounces of Tomato Sauce, salt, black pepper, eggs, crumbled Regular Crackers, and chopped bell pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  • Transfer the meatloaf mixture into the greased loaf pan, shaping it into a loaf shape. Press the mixture firmly to ensure it holds its shape during cooking.
  • In a small bowl, mix the remaining half-can of tomato sauce with 1 tablespoon of cooking oil. This will be used as a glaze for the meatloaf.
  • Pour the tomato sauce and cooking oil mixture evenly over the top of the meatloaf, using a spoon or a brush to spread it across the surface.
  • Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) using a meat thermometer.
  • Once cooked, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh hamburger meat: Fresh meat will result in a more tender and flavorful meatloaf. Avoid using frozen or previously cooked meat for the best results.
  • Chop the vegetables finely: Chopping the onion and bell pepper into small pieces will ensure they cook evenly and blend seamlessly into the meatloaf.
  • Let the meatloaf rest before slicing: Allowing the meatloaf to rest for about 10 minutes after baking helps the flavors settle and makes it easier to slice without falling apart.
  • Experiment with additional seasonings: While the Brenda Gantt Meatloaf Recipe is delicious as is, feel free to experiment with additional seasonings such as garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, or dried herbs to customize the flavors to your liking.
  • Serve with your favorite sides: Meatloaf pairs well with a variety of sides, such as mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a green salad. Get creative and choose what complements your taste preferences.
