Equipment

  • blender
  • Tall glass
  • Spoon

Ingredients

  • 2 cups almond milk coconut, dairy, or soy milk are also options
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup hot water
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 ripe bananas peeled
  • 2 tablespoons instant coffee granules

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare Your Ingredients

  • Before anything else, gather all the ingredients. This recipe moves fast, so having everything prepped and ready is crucial.

Step 2: Make Your Coffee Base

  • Add 2 tablespoons of instant coffee granules to 1/3 cup of hot water. Stir until the coffee is fully dissolved and set aside to cool.

Step 3: Blend the Base Ingredients

  • In a blender, combine 2 cups of almond milk, the brewed coffee, 2 peeled bananas, and a tablespoon of granulated sugar. Blend until smooth.

Step 4: Add Flavor Components

  • Next, add 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder to the blender. Blend again until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

Step 5: Incorporate Ice

  • Add 1 cup of crushed ice to the blender. Blend until the ice is fully crushed and the smoothie has a thick, creamy texture.

Step 6: Taste and Adjust

  • Before serving, taste your smoothie. If it needs more sweetness, add a bit more sugar or a splash of maple syrup. If you want it thicker, add more ice and blend again.

Step 7: Serve

  • Pour your mocha smoothie into a tall glass and enjoy immediately. Garnish with a sprinkle of cocoa powder or a cinnamon stick for an added touch.

Notes

  • Use ripe bananas: The riper, the better. They add natural sweetness and creaminess.
  • Chill your ingredients: Start with cold almond milk and ice. It makes a huge difference in the texture.
  • Blend in stages: This ensures all ingredients are evenly mixed.
  • Experiment with milk: Almond milk is great, but coconut or dairy milk works too.
  • Adjust to taste: Everyone’s palate is different. Feel free to tweak the sugar and cocoa powder.
