Equipment

  • skillet
  • aluminum foil
  • baking dish.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 16 oz San Giorgio Lasagna
  • 1 jar 24 oz. pasta sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups water

Instructions

  • Boil the San Giorgio lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until they are al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the pasta sauce to the skillet with the cooked ground beef, followed by the water. Stir well to combine and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, eggs, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Begin assembling the lasagna by spreading a thin layer of the meat sauce at the bottom of a baking dish. Place a layer of San Giorgio lasagna noodles on top, followed by a layer of the cheese mixture. Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used, ending with a final layer of cheese.
  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the aluminum foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  • Once cooked, allow the lasagna to rest for a few minutes before serving. This will make it easier to cut and serve neat portions.

Notes

  • Cook the lasagna noodles al dente to ensure they hold their shape during baking.
  • Use lean ground beef to reduce excess fat and create a healthier dish.
  • Experiment with different cheeses like fontina or provolone for unique flavor profiles.
  • Allow the lasagna to rest for 10-15 minutes after baking to let the flavors meld together.
  • Reheat individual portions in the microwave or oven for a quick and satisfying meal.
