Sweet Yeast Dough:
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast
- ¾ cup warm milk
- ⅓ stick unsalted butter softened
- 2 tablespoons granulated cane sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 egg white
- ⅛ teaspoon fine salt
Poppy Seed Filling:
- 1 ½ cups finely ground poppy seeds
- ¾ cup milk
- ½ cup white granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon spiced rum such as Kirkland or Stroh 40
- 2 teaspoons freshly grated lemon zest
- 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ⅓ cup golden raisins
- 1 tablespoon honey
- ¼ teaspoon cardamom

- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
